A BEFORE AND AFTER TO LOVE
I'm often asked by clients to come along on real estate hunts in order to help them see the hidden potential before purchasing property. Early last year, we popped into this home and it was far from love at first sight. They hated it. In fact, they hated every square foot! Olive Garden meets Knights of Columbus was not their style. The home did offer certain features they hadn't found anywhere else...first floor master, large spaces, nice open yard, close proximity to essentials nestled in a country setting. The first question; "do you think you can turn this into something we will love?" OF COURSE! One of the many challenges in this home were designed by the former owner/builder who created odd angles where they weren't needed, space where it wasn't wanted and other logistical nightmares. One challenge was the powder room, with various shades of pink marble and not enough room to jump to conclusions, how could we make it better? On the other side of the original sink wall was a laundry room with the opposite, totally foolish angled wall. To create a handicap-accessible powder room and space for a vanity with storage, I simply straightened out that wall and moved the door from its 90 degree angle to a 45. Little tweaks created much better space and one that the homeowners actually fell in love with.
