SCALE IT DOWN!
One of my biggest challenges in designing a space is convincing that size isn't everything. Bigger isn't necessarily better, especially when it comes to furniture pieces. Straight men are usually the most difficult to sway to my side (sorry guys), because they typically like enormous sofas, huge televisions, bean bags, over sized tables and artwork portraying dogs playing poker (that's another story entirely). The example above, well, is a perfect example of someone thinking IF IT FITS, IT WORKS. Not in this case, my love! Notice the sofa, while fitting in the room, blocks the closet door and the ottoman protrudes into the space. Don't even get me started on the monolithic thing perched in the right hand corner, but with a few swipes of a paintbrush, staining the floors a lighter color, adding a cool light fixture (CB2 for $75) and introducing pieces that actually FIT the space, the room goes from frat to ALL THAT!
