A ROOM WITH A (CARTOON) VIEW
Today I faced an interesting challenge through the haze of chomping bubble gum and blaring Justin Bieber songs; helping a teenager spruce up his bedroom for under $60 in less than an hour. Because he wanted to get on Mom and Dad's better side, he figured it would be a good idea to tidy up his bedroom for the new school year, so we hit the boulevard with hard earned allowance money and one creative kids imagination. The most important piece in this large bedroom was the tapestry we hung above the bed. Now, I use the term "tapestry" lightly here. This is a far cry from renaissance tapestries which were originally designed to protect medieval rooms from damp, cold weather, but just like their purely utilitarian function, our modern-day version makes this kid feel like a little prince. Purchased at the kingdom of Bed Bath and Beyond, we picked this curtain with a city-scape theme up for a mere $8! After purchasing a bed in a bag at Target (sheets, pillow cases and a comforter) for $22.00 we zipped over to Ikea and snapped up two lamps for $20.00!! While the little Prince worked on math problems, I solved a few design issues in his bedroom. In an hour we created a fun, relaxing comfortable space even the King and Queen of this castle enjoyed!
