HANDY TIP

It's March which means the snow is melting, birds are chirping, flowers are blooming and everywhere you look spring is in the air! In our home a sure sign of the approaching warm weather is a long list of "to-do's" ranging from "open storm windows" and "clean winter bed linens" to "finish wretched outdoor paint project" and "begin kitchen addition." I used to mock Martha Stewarts monthly calendar in LIVING when she'd list things like "prepare summer driveway" and "uncover outdoor furniture" but, mock no more, because living on the east coast has taught me to be prepared for anything and everything mother nature has in store for us throughout the year. One of the many things on our list last fall was to wax all of our vehicles to protect them from the snow, ice and salt of winter. As I drove to the Post Office yesterday in my filthy, dirty, winter-worn truck I realized it was time to pull out the old wax once again (which, for an odd reason, reminded me of bathing suit season too...) and I thought of an old trick for new appliances. WAX EM!
WAX ON/WAX OFF:
Did you know that car wax can fill scratches and give a nice shine to surfaces like glass and metal while protecting them from damage and stains? Here are just a few tips to keep hand prints off of your precious appliances:
1.) To keep that bright new stainless steel refrigerator or dishwasher print-free, apply a thin coat of car wax to them. Buff clean and finger prints and smudges will stay away!
2.) To give your faucets a shine rub a small amount of wax onto them.
3.) Sick and tired of fogging up your bathroom mirror? Apply a thin layer of car wax onto it and buff it clean!
4.) Can't open your drawers or windows? Just apply a thin layer of car wax to the hinges and slip, slip away!
TIME TO COMPLETE TASK: Five minutes
COST: Most wax costs approx $5 and is available everywhere from Walmart to Home Depot
STRESS LEVEL: Feeling clean and shiny as we roll into warm weather: LOW
