When Crunch Fitness in LA started teaching Gospel Aerobics I thought LaLa Land had gone Koo Koo for CoCo puffs until I read an article about the new craze in Hula Hoop Aerobics sweeping the nation...who are the yo yo's that come up with this stuff? After jumping through hoops to complete a job for a client I decided to treat myself (and my body) to the new craze in workout equipment, so headed to our nearest toy store in search of a hoop to fulfill my workout dreams. $1.99 and an hour later after twirling around in our front yard I felt a bit loopy so came inside to rest. While staring at the ceiling I thought up a helluva good idea. HOOP, THERE IT IS!
HOOP DREAMS:Hula Hoops actually make great design tools and are incredibly inexpensive. If you want to create a canopy over your bed, outdoor seating area, dinner table or create a whimsical play area for your little ones, purchase a hula hoop, fishing wire, S hooks and tulle fabric all for well under $20! If you're creating a bed canopy and want to cover the entire bed, hang the S hook in the middle of the bed, purchase 8-12 yards of tulle, hot glue gun the fabric to the hula hoop OR make a small cut in the hoop and thread the fabric around the circle. Wrap the fishing wire around the hoop in various positions and gather at the middle, attaching to the S hook above. To create an intimate, interesting seating area outdoors, hang the hoop above the sofa and allow the fabric to drape on either side.
HOOP IT UP AT A PARTY: To create interesting, modern hanging art above a table for a party purchase Knitting Hoops of 16" in diameter at Michael's craft stores and attach round pieces of colored plastic (also purchased at Michael's) with fishing wire to create a modern, clean look (also perfect for a baby shower). If you hate it, take the hula down and hoop your waist away!
