BLACK AND WHITES
The Whites, a young newlywed couple, came to me recently searching for answers to their housing crisis. When they laid eyes on their new home they knew they had to have it and would stop at nothing to get it. Yes, it seemed a bit small but the location, the location and the location were well worth the sacrifice. So, they signed on the dotted line. Once they settled in to their new digs they realized they were settling for far too much. The 800 square foot bungalow, while charming, left a lot to be desired...like the desire for office space. With one bedroom and two people working from home, the Whites realized their issues were no longer as simple as Black and White. James is a neat freak and needs little space. Jessica, while sweet, is a little messy. So, I helped them create two separate areas. I found an old desk in the garage, painted it black, found a cool lamp at Target and carved out an area near the front door for James to write his magic. For Jessica, I picked up a pine TV cabinet with sliding shelf for under $300 and painted it white. Placing Jessica's office on one wall of the bedroom created a private, clean, organized area for her workspace. The desk became the sliding shelf of the cabinet..easy to slide in and hide the mess at the end of the day. At the end of this day, the issues were as simple as Black and White.
