DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH
After six months of living on the east coast Joe and I realized we've been ignoring our wood for far too long! Sick and tired of our rough situation (the floors of our kitchen are painted turquoise green) we've decided to take matters into our own hands this weekend. The bigger picture of our design plans will most likely include sanding the floors to reveal the original wood, for now we're just going to slap a coat of paint on it. A unique twist on the old wood is to create diamond shapes by taping a pattern with painters tape and painting two different colors. Allow the paint to dry over night (keep animals and curious paws away) and apply a polyurethane finish (which provides a highly durable, water-resistant finish and is ideal for kitchen cabinets, doors, furniture and floors) the following day. After a few strokes of your brush you, too, can enjoy your wood once again!
