STARE CASE
The Bold and the Beautiful: Not sure what to do with that boring, neglected wall in your home? There are much better alternatives, believe or not, to poster art! If you're over the age of sixteen there are no excuses, in my opinion, for purchasing...much less displaying...poster art. Do you really think your friends believe it's a real Van Gough hanging above the Lazy-Boy? Chances are you aren't fooling anybody. So, here are some tips to dressing up a wall on any budget. In this example I used wallpaper on a blank, white wall to create drama and help the staircase (an architectural focal point) stand out. Put down your keys, pick up a pair of scissors and get ready for your friends to stare..in a good way!
HERE'S WHAT I DID
1.) Went to one of my favorite online shops, http://www.designpublic.com/ and browsed the wallpaper galleries. This print cost a total of $375 to cover a 20' stretch of wall, 11' high.
2.) Purchased wallpaper glue, measured and hung.
LESS EXPENSIVE ALTERNATIVE:
A.) Find old maps at antique shops or visit http://www.randmcnally.com/ and purchase large scale maps for under $10. Wallpaper glue them to wall in same fashion as above
TIME TO COMPLETE PROJECT: 3 hours
COST: $410 for wallpaper and glue ($75 for less expensive version)
STRESS LEVEL: Low
