DECKED OUT
WHAT THE DECK?
Who says you can't put indoor furniture outside? For a client in Hollywood with a 750 square foot rooftop deck, I did just that and saved money in the process! "Outdoor" daybeds typically run $200 more than indoor daybeds. So, I purchased two and coated them with a $10 can of boat varnish to protect them from the harsh elements of the Southern California climate, found Jute rugs online for 75% off and sprayed them with leather protectant (usually used on clothing but works on rugs too!) and we were ready to go. In a city built on pretending, why not do it at home and save a little cash!
HERE'S WHAT I DID:
1.) Purchased two outdoor daybeds, a regular mattress from 1-800-mattress, outdoor sheets (available at West Elm, Frontgate, Target.com), three Jute rugs, umbrellas, pillows (all at Target.com)
2.) One can of boat varnish at my local home improvement store for $10, paint brush and leather spray.
