THE STATE OF THE CABINET

As President Obama met with his cabinet this morning to discuss, among other things, the elections that took place yesterday and how to pull the economy out of the toilet, I noticed my toothbrush had fallen on the floor of our bathroom, resting on a pile of dog hair. Almost as upsetting as two more Republicans in office, I picked my toothbrush up off the floor and tossed it in the garbage and realized it was time to spruce up our bathroom. Like dirty politicians, we've fallen into bad habits in the bathroom of leaving caps off bottles, retainers on the counter and crap everywhere. The conservative in me wants it all hidden away but the head of the household, Joe, wants easy access to his health care needs. So, I decided to assemble a smart, clean, well-organized cabinet. A neat way to bring a fresh spin to an old cabinet is to dress it up with vintage wallpaper, favorite photos, documents, stamps, etc. Take a favorite old photo, for example, and blow it up to a size big enough to cover the back of the cabinet. Remove the shelves, attach with wallpaper glue and replace shelves. To spruce up boring glass shelves, wrap them in old maps or shelfpaper. Even a stuffy, old cabinet can get a quick, inexpensive face lift!
