YOU'RE SO VAIN

VANITY FARE: It's the last thing we see before heading to bed, the first thing we see in the morning, we spit on it, we lean on it, we often clog it, we hide our unmentionables in it and whether it's a small basin in an apartment or a marble ensemble in a bathroom the size of an apartment, we all have them. Vanities. If you have $200 total to spend or spend $200 on facial cream, anyone can have a vanity that makes you smile. The two examples above are on completely different ends of the budget spectrum but, I believe, achieve the same goals. Modern, clean, simple. For a client in Los Angeles I designed a bathroom (top photo) where the budget for the vanity (sink and cabinet) flirted with $3,700.00 without the faucet (another $300.00). The other client, one of the best I've had to date (Joe) has a slightly lower budget for the master bathroom renovation. So, here's what we did. With big hopes and an empty wallet, we headed to Ikea...
BEER BUDGET:
1.) At Ikea we purchased the sink and vanity for $150.00. http://www.ikea.com/
2.) We purchased a Delta faucet at Lowe's for $45.00. http://www.lowes.com/
3.) I spent 42 hours assembling the cabinet, wanted to toss it out the window, ran around block to relax, came home and finsihed assembly.
4.) Joe hooked up pipes (I tried to focus but was exhausted from assembling Ikea cabinet)
TIME TO COMPLETE PROJECT: 2 hours (48 if you include assembly of cabinet)
COST: $195.00
STRESS LEVEL: HIGH (If ikea would send an employee to assemble for us LOW)
CHAMPAGNE BUDGET:
Cabinet was designed for me by Davinci in LA http://www.davincila.com/
Sink was purchased online at http://www.wetstyle.net/
TOTAL: $4,200.00 for sink, vanity and faucet
