MR. PINE'S PURPLE HOUSE

One of my favorite books growing up sits on the bookshelf behind my desk today, Mr. Pine's Purple House.  You see, Mr. Pine lived on a street named Vine and hated that every house in the line was painted white.  How would anyone ever find him in this sea of monotony, he wondered?  So he braved the norm, that Mr. Pine, and painted his home in a shade quite divine..PURPLE!  The entire neighborhood, inspired by Mr. Pine's design eye, decided to paint, too…red, yellow and even blue!  The moral of the story…whatever you do in life, strive to be different!  A friend of mine, channeling her inner Mr. Pine, got it in her head that the perfect thing for her house was a wall of red.  When the bold choice made her eyes pop, this poor friend thought she'd created a giant old flop!
RED WHITE AND EWWWEEEE…
Red can be great in any design scheme, but sometimes reversing bold choices can make you want to scream!  When in doubt…
Always use primer when painting over dark colors or you will decrease square footage in your home by using so much paint!  Behr has a line at Home Depot of paint and primer in ONE, which is a great way to get the job DONE!
