NOR' VALENTINES

As a cold nor' easter bounced down on us yesterday a warm wave of panic came over me. While Joe researched Bees and Chickens for our summer project, I realized I hadn't bought my honey anything for Valentine's day. My mind drifted like the snow whipping around our front yard...wow, I'll finally get to answer that nagging question: "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" Where I once pictured fruit trees and a strawberry patch, my sweet love planned his coop and beehive reservation in the middle of our field. Instead of making him breakfast in bed (scrambled eggs and bread with honey, perhaps? Maybe next year!) I tried to come up with more creative gift ideas, because what on earth do you get the person who can literally make anything? From a delicious carbonara to a hip, comfortable platform bed, my man is too sweet for this tart! Then, with snow piling outside, I decided to go surfing next to the fireplace. My keyboard took me to Dean & Deluca (http://www.deandeluca.com/) where they have fantastic gift ideas of everything from gourmet chocolates to vintage tea cups. Then I headed west to http://www.westelm.com/ where, once clicking on "final sale" I found great gift ideas for under $20. At http://www.surlatable.com/ I found fun kitchen items for the chef in your life (purchase a glass biscotti or cookie jar, for example, and fill it with kitchen utensils, a cook book or ingredients for a favorite meal). Pottery Barn has clearance sales on throws (something to keep them warm while you're away). There I stood with my computer in front of the fireplace and I started to day dream about summer and the fantasy of a strawberry field, so I headed to http://www.berries.com/ where I found a great deal on a basket full of fun (with or without sun). If you think outside of the heart-shaped box of chocolates, you can actually find some interesting gift ideas that both you and your sweetheart will love!
