HEAD BORED

Lesson #1: Bedroom sets are awful. If your mother handed it down to you, even worse. Without revealing names (she gave birth to me) saying something like, "but in 1973 it was an expensive Ethan Allen piece" is unacceptable. In fact, I don't have enough space on this page to say how many things are wrong with that statement. 1973. Ethan Allen. Humm. If your headboard is cracking because of the amount of activity, congratulations (but fasten it to the wall using screws..no pun intended) if it's cracking because it's older than your children, it's time to step it up! It's easy to make a dramatic statement for little money with creative headboard ideas. For example, in the photo above an MDF door (cheap wood door at Home Depot or Lowes) was hung horizontally above the bed to create an interesting, eye catching focal point in this bedroom. 1973 was a great year..but 2008 is even better!
HERE'S HOW TO WRAP YOUR HEAD AROUND IT:
1.) Unscrew the dreadful headboard you've been living with from the frame. IF you can't bare to donate or toss it, put it in your garage.
2.) Head to your local home improvement store. Purchase single, MDF door. If you have a king bed, the dimensions are perfect.
3.) Paint/stain/bedazzle to your hearts content. Nail to wall above bed using liquid nails or screws (tough and don't leave unsightly marks)
TIME TO COMPLETE TASK: Two Hours
COST: $45.00 ($25.00/door, $200.00 varnish, nails and patch)
STRESS LEVEL: LOW
